dsh-math

Scientific computing plugin for DeepSeek Harness. It registers a single math tool that covers both numeric computation and symbolic algebra (CAS), so an agent can evaluate expressions and derive/simplify formulas without leaving the conversation.

Features

The math tool takes an operation, an expression, and an optional variable.

operationdescriptionengine
evalnumeric expression: units, matrices, statistics, complex numbers, big numbersmathjs
simplifysimplify an expressionAlgebrite
expandexpand an expressionAlgebrite
factorfactor a polynomialAlgebrite
derivativedifferentiate with respect to a variableAlgebrite
integralsymbolic indefinite integralAlgebrite
solvefind the roots of a polynomialAlgebrite

Two engines share the work: mathjs handles numeric evaluation (units, matrices, statistics, complex numbers, big numbers), and Algebrite handles symbolic algebra (integration, factoring, and equation solving that mathjs does not provide).

Install

From npm:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-math

From a git host (requires the repository's prepare script to build, or pin a commit):

dsh plugin --profile web add github:owner/dsh-math

Usage

The agent calls the math tool automatically when it needs a computation. Examples of what it can answer:

  • determinant: det([[1,2],[3,4]])-2
  • unit conversion: 5 cm to inch1.9685039370078743 inch
  • big number: 2^1001.2676506002282294e+30
  • derivative: derivative(x^2, x)2*x
  • integral: integral(x^2, x)1/3*x^3
  • solve: roots(x^2 - 3x + 2)[1,2]
